The Institute for Security Studies published on 26 May 2017 an analysis titled "Could Emirati Activism in the Horn Make the Situation Worse?" by Berouk Mesfin.
The author concluded that the United Arab Emirates' growing influence in the Horn of Africa may help stabilize the region but must take into account the geopolitical interests of regional states and not undermine them.
